My Silent Romance – Synth Pop / Dark Wave

A few thoughts on a topic everyone’s talking about

In recent months, there has been a lot of heated discussion about artificial intelligence in music, art and media. We would also like to share a few thoughts on the subject.

We do not reject AI-generated music categorically. If new technologies help people find creative ways to express themselves, that is not automatically a bad thing. Not everyone can play an instrument or produce music – creativity should still have its place.

What matters to us, however, is transparency. If music has been created fully or partly with AI, this should be communicated openly. In our opinion, listeners have a right to know how a piece of art was created.

For our own music, we do not use AI for composition or production. Not for ideological reasons, but simply because it is more fun for us this way. Creating sounds, experimenting with ideas, discussing, getting frustrated, starting over and suddenly thinking at 2 a.m. “okay, now it works” – that is part of making music for us. My Silent Romance are real people with real voices and real instruments on real stages.

With visuals and videos, things are a bit different. There we sometimes use AI-supported tools because they open creative possibilities that would otherwise be difficult or impossible with normal budgets. Unfortunately, filming a music video in outer space is still slightly outside our production budget. 😉

For us, AI remains what it should be: a tool. Not the enemy of art, but also not a replacement for genuine creativity, personality and passion. And that is exactly what we want the music of My Silent Romance to stand for.
